Patty’s Reflections {Reflections New Year 2024}

January 3, 2024Phortonpatty's reflections, Reflections

Happy New Year!!  Hooray and Welcome to 2024.

This year I have decided to start sharing a few more personal reflections with all of you. I am excited to chat and share a variety of experiences, life lessons and deep thoughts.  Entitling them “Patty’s Reflections” I hope that you find them helpful and that they will bring a smile to your face.  This is Patty’s Reflections #1 – Welcome to my amazing deep thoughts.  🙂

After a couple of glasses of champagne this past New Year’s Eve our household discussion turned to resolutions.  Thoughts on how to approach the New Year can vary.  My mom has handed down the sage advice that whatever you are doing on January 1 you will do for the rest of the year.  That means we say no to laundry, cleaning, chores etc and make space only for resting and socializing.  I secretly believe that this was because the adults had socialized a little too much on New Year’s Eve and were looking for a quiet New Year’s Day.  LOL well played parents, well played!  I heard from others that they like to make sure that their home is completely cleaned and organized to start the year off on the right foot.  Still more people look to the first day of the first month of our calendar as a completely clean slate and an opportunity to wipe the past and start anew with copious resolutions.

After a busy fall/holiday season (grateful thanks to all of my clients – I love you!) I tend to approach the New Year a little more philosophically.  I look at life as an experience to live, learn and grow from.  This includes everything: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.  The clean slate massive list of resolutions always sets me up for failure.  Each year it is my only wish to build on life’s experiences……preferably more of the good ones than the ugly ones. 😉

Patty’s 2024 New Year’s Suggestion List

  • Smile often – especially at cranky people.  Smiling is powerful magic!
  • Be kind to yourself
  • Tell your people you love them EVERYDAY
  • Live your life and Embrace your Experience

It is an absolute joy to share people’s big life moments.  I am honoured to capture your smiles and hugs.  My wish for all is a healthy and happy 2024.
